| Hinge Card - Closed |
Sharing the technique of the Hinge Card with my friends from my weekly card club. I learned the technique on Splitcoast Stampers and really enjoyed it the last time I did and thought my friends would enjoy it too. This one is made with the Stampingbella stamp set called Just My Type. I colored it with Copic markers and the keys and inside of the type writer are colored with Smooch pearlized accent ink. I also sponged around the image with distress inks. The buttons are from an sizzlits die from SU called Buttons #5. I threaded silver cording through the buttons and then applied to the card and covered them with SU Crystal Accents. The large brown scalloped button is adhered on top of a large-head brad which acts as the inge for the top portion (see open card below). The green panel is embossed with a SU embossing die called Petals a Plenty. The printed paper is punched with a large scallop punch from EK Success. The paper is 2 sided so I did a ribbon-like cut on a thin scrap of that and adhered it with the opposite side the bottom of the page. A brown scrap is used for the eyelet border punch. Following the instructions, the card actually goes together fairly quickly depending on how detailed you get with it.

- For base of card you need a piece of card stock cut at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
- Bottom portion can be card stock or pattern paper cut at 4-1/4 x 3. Allow yourself an extra 3/4" for the length if you are punching a border that should be 4-1/4 x 3-3/4 with the punched border.
- The accent/image panel could actually vary but should be approximately 1-1/4" x 4-1/4"
- Then the top panel (the panel that hinges) is 4-1/4" x 3"
- You will need 1 brad.
Sometimes we are on autopilot when we are making it cards that I just want to remind you on here not to glue the entire back of your bottom panel so the top panel has a place to slide into and likewise remember not to adhere your image panel to the bottom portion or it won't hinge.
